SIMUL8 Feature Tour - Sharing Your Simulations
SIMUL8 has many features that enable SIMUL8 simulations can be controlled in a variety of ways. This means simulations can be passed to non-expert users or from consultant to client without every user having to undergo the learning curve of SIMUL8.
Custom Dialogs
Custom dialogs allow SIMUL8 to be tailored to the specific needs of a business. Dialogs can appear as individually or as "Wizards" in a series.
Custom dialogs can appear as new menu items on the SIMUL8 menu bar, when simulations or templates for simulations are opened, or at any time driven by Visual Logic.
Custom dialogs can display SIMUL8 information store data and allow information store data to be changed by the user. This makes it very easy for someone to use simulation on a daily basis without any understanding of how to build simulations.
Replace the standard SIMUL8 graphic with any image to enhance the look and feel of your simulation's dialogs.

Buttons and Hyperlinks on Screen
Any text or image placed on any SIMUL8 simulation window can be active.
Activate text and images can link to either any page on the web, your intranet, help or text files on your disk, or to any Visual Logic in your simulation.

Function Keys
The top row of the keyboard can be used as a control board to drive your simulation.
Program each function key to change decision rules during the simulation run, or start a run with particular conditions, or breakdown a machine, anything that can be controlled from Visual Logic can now be directly adjusted instantly by your users (even while the simulation is running).

COM
This is a standard Windows COM interface that allows any application that can use COM to drive SIMUL8 without user intervention. Using COM you can create a interface in another package so that the end user need not be familiar with SIMUL8 and can use SIMUL8 in an environment familiar to them.

SIMUL8 Viewer
You can distribute your simulations to colleagues who don't own SIMUL8. SIMUL8 Viewer will let them view and run your simulations. If you've build in custom dialogs or spreadsheets that contain data to be changed they'll also be able to edit your simulation!
SIMUL8 Viewer is only available with SIMUL8 Professional. You are licensed to distribute it to as many people as you like.

OptQuest for SIMUL8 does not come with the free viewer, but it does work with the free viewer if purchased separately. |

Features that only make sense when editing a simulation (like Stat::Fit) are not available with the Viewer. |

There is no SAVE button because most simulation builders won't want users to be able to save, i.e. overwrite their simulation - but you can add your own menu and logic to press the save button for you. |

The SQL features in SIMUL8 Professional are not available. SQL was designed to work with large system databases like Oracle that need to be purchased separately also. |

SIMUL8's COM (ActiveX) and XML features are also not available with the free viewer as they can be used to create your own simulation package (and then we would not be able to sell SIMUL8 to our customers!) |

Template Licensing
Template Licensing allows you to license and distribute your SIMUL8 Templates to other SIMUL8 users without allowing them to alter anything that they should not.
SIMUL8 Template Licensing is only available as part of SIMUL8 Professional.
SIMUL8 Template Licensing allows you to turn off unnecessary toolbars, protect the internal workings of your simulation, and distribute your work securely.
Applications include distribution of your simulations to colleagues and clients, and also for sale to other users. We support the sale of SIMUL8 Templates through our web site.

Run Customized Interfaces from .Exe
Through Visual Logic you can call your own compiled programs. Combined with features such as Custom Dialogs this allows you to create your own interface for your simulations.
